Four days ago, I and the rest of the Portland jazz community got word that The 1905, our city’s primary jazz club for the past several years, was closing its doors effective immediately.
Very well said Darrell. The Alberta Abbey’s existence rests on my shoulders and we are barely holding on. It’s exhausting, defeating and unfair to not have support for the arts in our city. 38th in the nation… I’m tired, very tired and unwilling to do it much longer. I feel for Aaron and am grateful of the gift he gave Portland for a moment in time. We need all kinds of music havens!
A lot of people have been fooled by Mr. Barnes’s con-artistry and this author is no exception. Someone who dedicated to “art” would have no problem being transparent about his finances. That was not the case with Mr. Barnes.

I can imagine Leah. Thanks for all that you are doing for the community.
